Why can the cover tape prevent static electricity?

The core reason why SealTekPro HAA cover tape can prevent static electricity is that its material formula contains anti-static components. These components reduce the surface resistance of the material and guide the rapid dissipation of static charges, thereby avoiding electrostatic hazards caused by charge accumulation.

The base material of the cover tape is polyester (PET) film. Such polymer materials are highly insulating in nature and prone to accumulating static charges. To address this issue, a treatment method involving coating with an anti-static heat-sealing adhesive is employed. A layer of anti-static heat-sealing adhesive coating is applied on the surface of the cover tape. The role of this coating is to lower the surface resistance, enabling static charges to leak quickly. Generally, the resistance value of the coating is controlled within the range of 10^6 Ω to 10^11 Ω, which meets the anti-static standards for electronic component packaging.
