What Goes Wrong with a Mismatch

- Measure the cover tape width on a sample — use a micrometer, ±0.1 mm matters
- Do a dry fit — place the cover tape over the carrier tape and confirm it lands fully on both flanges without covering sprocket holes or folding over pockets
- Verify pocket coverage — every pocket mouth should be fully covered with margin on both sides
At the Sealer
- Set the seal rails to match the cover tape width, not the carrier width
- Confirm sealing registration — the cover tape should be centered over the pocket row during sealing
- Check the seal lands on the flange, not on the pocket cavity edges
